Swan Park Family Practice

Michael McElmeel I had surgery on 23rd February to repair tear on rotator cuff on leaving Hospital they give me letter for my GP as had low blood pressure and require dressing to be changed the letter from hospital was dropped off at reception to be passed on to doctor some time later I attended the surgery and was informed that I had to make an appointment so I call the surgery by phone only that I would not be possible to get an appointment for this and I should return to hospital to have blood pressure checked and dressing changed as they would not be prepared to do this type of activity. I’ve been a patient of this practice for over thirty years and was left speechless by what I was told, then went to Monaghan hospital where I was told they could not and would not be in a position to do anything for me. I now in a position where I need to lodge a formal complaint with Swan Park surgery to explain why they would not even check my blood pressure

This practice has a very curious approach to patient care. I was with them for a decade and experienced the service decline dramatically over those years. There is a negative feel in the place. Out of frustration I put a poor review up on a review forum in the hope it would be seen by practice management and might lead to an improvement in the service for all patients. Alas no, my GP saw the review and dismissed me from his care. No communication, no questions, no trying to improve his practice- just collect your records and go. So much for patient centred care. I wonder why some people train to be clinicians. Its the public who suffer.

Appointment lasts just 10 minutes. Was asked to pay €10 for blood test, even if I have medical card
