University Hospital Waterford provides general medical, surgical and maternity care to people living in South Kilkenny, Waterford City and County. The hospital provides specialty services to the population of the south east c. 500 000 in the following areas of clinical practice:
Cardiology (including Interventional Cardiac Procedures), Trauma Orthopaedics, Opthalmology, Neurology, Nephrology, Rheumatology, Urology, Vascular Surgery, ENT and Neonatology, Radiology, Pathology and Microbiology.
The hospital is the designated cancer centre for the south east, providing rapid access assessment for Breast, Prostate, Lung and Skin cancers. Cancer surgery is centrallised at UHW. Haematology, Medical Oncology and Palliative Care is provided through our inpatient and day care facilities.
There are 431 inpatient and 85 day procedure beds. -

Jun 9 2023 Hello. My name is Adriana Buncikova (09/03/1987). I live in Carlow. About a month ago I was at the Emergency Department in Waterford at the University Hospital. I received a paper from my GP Doctor to go to the hospital. I have scoliosis and after 21 years it got worse. I have pain every day, it's hard for me to walk, the bones are pressing on my joints, I can't walk for more than 10-15 minutes. The muscles in my hands are stiff ... I feel like I don't feel well a little bit on my legs and hands. They did an x-ray , I told the doctor that I live in Carlow and that the last train leaves at 4:45 p.m. She said that the results would be right away. In the end, she didn't tell me the results and wanted me to wait. But I didn't have a place to spend the night, so we had to leave. I was with my partner and our 2nd son. She said that after my Gp doctor got the results and it's been a month and I still don't have the results. I'm aware that I'm not the only patient in your hospital. But she knew that I don't have any pills and they don't even help me that I need the results as soon as possible so that my Gp doctor knows how to proceed with my diagnosis, whether I need an operation or not. I would be very happy if you would send me or my Gp doctor's results. You have more information on the computer. I have pain every day and I am without medication. ..Thank you in advance ..Adriana
