I am an immature 53 year old (if that is possible!) who has been an alcoholic for at least 30 years and addicted to codeine/morphine based pain killers for 20 years. I had given up hope of ever attaining a 'normal' life until I attended the Unit and believe me, if I can achieve this then at least 99% of the human race can. The staff (without exception) are almost angelic and incredibly efficient, rendering the remarkable standard of accommodation and catering academic by comparison.
The only point of contention during my detox - and, I have to say, initiated by my strong minded self - was the level of administered medication. I possess significant knowledge in this area but am retrospectively more than willing to bow to the much superior experience of fabulous professionals.
If you are remotely committed to exorcising inner demons arising from alcohol or any other toxic substance, please give yourself the best possible chance of success by striving to attend the Chapman Barker Unit. And don't feel intimidated by the prospect of group meetings, they are conducted in a relaxed and impeccable manner.
I've never been what you could describe as religious but I can only say to the staff - God bless! Original Comment Report...
