Let's face the cold hard reality there are some very good doctors at castle street practice Luton who are credit to the professi.  Unfortunately.  The people who own / run the practice are there to make money. and that is more important to them than patience, life or care. The CQC report shows from 2020.The practice even then needs improvement. The only way you are going to see any improvement. Is Email the CQC at Concerns@cqc.org.uk And if enough people do it continuously, they will go back in and they will condemn the practice So it will have  to get it act together. Or lose NHS status  i.e. no money. Thi is down to you If you make enough concerns / complaints they will have no choice but to act. So the choice is simple. Dad's army.Or send an email. For more serious situations a  formal complaint . And when they don't respond within 6 months (yep that's right  months not the 28 days they are saying on there web site  it comes under 209 NHS act) give it to the ombudsman. On this link.  If you don't do it for yourselves do it for all the people who don't know this Information and OAP,sphso.enquiries@ombudsman.org.uk The Luton ICB controls what money it gets as well as dropping them a line as well maybe good. https://www.england.nhs.uk/contact-us/about-nhs-services/contact-your-local-integrated-care-board-icb/blmkicb.contactus@nhs.net

Can never get through on the phone and when you do told that the surgery is closed and need to get to Stopsley. Even before closure since June could never make an appointment. Staff are rude and uncaring.

I keep being fobbed off regarding the reopening of the Castle street surgery. I need regular tests and am now looking for an alternative practice. The practice has now been closed for 3 months. And I have various issues not being addressed by this shoddy service. Why are we not being properly updated on whether or when the practice will reopen. The Kingfisher practice is so remote it is not easily accessible to those living in south Luton.

We are very sorry for the inconvenience caused to our patients but unfortunately the circumstance of the closure at Castle Medical Practice has been out of our control. The first flood happened at the end of June when a scaffolding pipe was dropped from the roof and hit one of the main waste pipes in the building. The fallout was that we had sewage flooding into the surgery and for health and safety reasons we had to shut. We were then waiting for the building to dry out to assess the damage. A second flood took place 10 days later when a drinks can entered the waste system which became blocked. This caused a backup of human waste which found its way out of one of our toilets causing a large amount of waste to again flood the surgery causing further damage. Thankfully we have had no further leakages of sewage, but it has meant that the work that had to be carried out was extensive. For infection control reasons we have not been able to move quicker, we had to wait for the building to dry out so that we could assess the damage to the fixtures and fittings. The surgery has had to have new flooring, skirting boards, ceiling tiles, new reception desk and doors. There has also had to be a large amount of painting carried out to bring the surgery to a fit state. Specialist cleaners have had to be brought in to ensure that we met the requirements of infection control. We are expecting the work to finish by the middle of October and as soon as we can we will reopen the surgery for patients to book appointments. We will put a post on our website and send messages via mobile phones. During this period we have been based at our branch surgery in Crawley Green Road and patients have been able to book appointments via the same telephone number to be seen there.
