I understood that the surgery had adopted additional hours to help patient access services on a Saturday morning. I submitted a repeat prescription request ten days ago. Due to working in London the only time I can get to the surgery when it is open is a Saturday morning. I duly arrived at the surgery this saturday morning around 9.30am and saw 5 members of staff sitting behind the reception desk having a laugh and joke and conversation. I spoke to the receptionist and asked him for my repeat prescription. he had not done this before so asked a colleague. His colleague said that they were unable to give me my completed prescription because it was a saturday morning and they couldn't offer that service. I was incredulous and felt humiliated as the box of prescriptions was on the front desk and would have taken them seconds to retrieve and give me my prescription. They did not apologise but said that I should come back in normal surgery hours. I think this showed a complete lack of care and a lack of understanding of what good customer service is treating me as if I was an inconvenience to their busy morning of socialising with colleagues.

Since February I have been attempting to get a medical problem sorted out, but have been passed from one G.P. to another without being able to get a face to face appointment with the same G.P. twice running. Most 'appointments' have been by telephone, and these are for dates at least a week in advance. It would seem that some of the G.Ps. do not refer back to previous medical notes, so have a limited idea of the medical problem that is concerning me. Where do I go from here in order that I have some continuity of care? The following question in this survey relates to ;when did you visit this GP surgery?' How can you visit a surgery when all it offers are 'telephone consultations'?

We are sorry to learn that you have experienced difficulty in making an appointment with the same GP since February 2019 and feel that this is affecting your continuity of care. The Practice has three experienced and regular GPs: one working four days per week, one working three days per week and the third working two days per week. All have been in post since September 2018. Aside from planned holidays, each GP is available every week for both face-to-face and telephone consultations with our patients. We accept that there are difficulties when trying to strike a balance between providing patients with a choice of pre-bookable, book-on-the day, urgent appointments and telephone consultation appointments. The Practice is in regular discussion with its Patient Participation Group regarding the appointment system and endeavour to take on board their suggestions wherever possible. Accordingly, we have made amendments to the system over the past year to try to accommodate patients' requirements and this is under constant review as demand for appointments increases. It is difficult to predict usage on a particular day or week. To this end, we are currently operating a system of appointment availability up to 4 weeks ahead. This is being closely monitored for effectiveness and to assess whether this results an increased rate of patients not attending for their pre-booked appointments; an issue which has been experienced by the Practice previously and creates a large number of wasted patient appointments. Increasingly, patients are offered telephone consultations by their regular GP as an alternative to a face-to-face appointment and where it is deemed clinically appropriate. If, however, you feel that this option is not suitable for you, face-to-face appointments are available for you book; albeit it is accepted that more flexibility may be required on both sides to accommodate this.

myself, and my family have been patients at this surgery for 38 years, we have had some excellent doctors in the past, but sadly most of them have retired. After two doctors left we had a lot of different doctors for over two years which was very frustrating. Thankfully we now have a new team of Doctors who are excellent, and I would highly recommend this surgery. My husband, and I both have health issues which have been dealt with promptly, and with much kindness. My children, and grandchildren are also patients here, and across the generations iof our family we are all really happy with the service, and the Doctors.at Sollershott .

Thank you for your positive feedback on the improvements made in the surgery since we took over a year ago. We do now have an established team of experienced, regular GPs and support staff who are all committed to providing a high standard of clinical care to all its patients. Your recommendation of our Practice to other patients is appreciated.
