Doctor always very thorough during a consultation. After my appointment an Xray, blood test and scan all booked for the next week. Prompt service means less waiting time and worry time.

I joined Chestfield surgery some years ago. I put all my faith in them as a team and went so far as recommending them to my parents, who later joined the surgery. It is for that reason, that I feel responsible and shocked by the absolutely appalling behaviour of certain staff and those who manage the surgery, towards my mum and dad. My mum and dad are good people who do not deserve the incredible disrespect and cruelty of being deregistered. My mum has a debilitating and painful condition and is currently in the middle of treatment. I thought a doctor’s duty is to their patients ..... Whilst the surgery’s decision may be legal, it is immoral and leads me to question on what grounds they have made this decision. Despite claiming that my parents are ‘out of area’ patients, this does not appear to be happening to all other out of area patients, as I was one too. I believe this is a convenient excuse, whereby the real motives are the egos of certain doctors and sheer spiteful behaviour of some of the medical secretaries, of whom we are all in fear, as to question them or refuse to submissively beg for their cooperation in getting an appointment or any reasonable help, might lead us to be deregistered or put to the back of the queue. Many of us know the feeling. We place our trust in doctors at times when we or our family members are at their most vulnerable. They have a duty to handle this ‘power’ with sensitivity and the same respect which they and their associates demand. I ask anyone to think of their parents in this position and how they might feel.

Thank you for your comments and we are sorry to hear that the practice has been unable to keep your parents as registered patients. Whitstable Medical Practice does accept out of area patient registrations (ie patients not living within the practice boundary), provided certain criteria is met and it is on the understanding that the practice is unable to provide home visits. Out of area patients are also advised at the time of registration that if their health needs change, the practice may review their registration to see if it would be more appropriate for them to be registered with a GP practice closer to their home. We can only assume that your parent's GP felt that it would be more clinically appropriate for them to be registered with a GP closer to their home address. This is advised so that patients can be provided with any home visits or urgent appointments that they may need in a more convenient, timely and safe fashion. We are unable to comment on your individual case but would welcome you to make contact with the Patient Safety and Quality Manager at Whitstable Medical Practice if you wish to discuss this further.

Recieved a text from NHSvaccine saying to phone GP and get a flu jab (I am 50). Called and the person who finally answered said call the pharmacy. Asked about a Covid booster as the news service says over 50 should get one and the response was, wait to you get a text. Hence OK rating, not exactly excellent, but I guess they have their limitations.
