My teenager who has a learning disability was 3 minutes late for an appointment- this was due to anxiety and trying to get him into the surgery. The Drs are well aware of his needs as they are documented on his notes. On arrival there was no mention of his lateness causing an issue and he was kept waiting for 45 minutes. When this was questioned, Dr Barnett basically laughed and said she would see him when she saw fit, as he was late for his appointment. If it was explained that his lateness pushed his appointment back to when the Dr would see him, we would have rescheduled his appointment. Instead the receptionists just kept telling him they were behind and he would be seen ‘soon’ His additional needs mean waiting in one room can be very challenging . By the time he left he was extremely upset, anxious and agitated. It’s very disappointing that a vulnerable teenager was treated in this manner. Also, the Drs attitude to being a few minutes late was a bit ridiculous when we are often left waiting 45 minutes past our appointment time. I asked how I could complain and was told the surgery do not accept emails, so I am the process of taking this further Dr Hall is an amazing Dr as was Dr Copeland and Dr Jackson and have been fantastic with my son in respect of his needs… so it’s a real shame that some of the reception staff and one Dr lets the surgery down and do not demonstrate any disability awareness

Sarah at reception has a reputation ( google reviews ) for being a first-class cold uncaring b)*&( she simply doesn't give a hoot and when hearing you are not British treats you like dirt. If you are having chest pains or struggling to breathe don't waist your time contacting Lavant road surgery, rather go to A&E for four hours because getting any help will not happen quickly.
