There is a lot of gas lighting and whispered comments coming from reception and standoffish drs acting like you are there just to get attention. not every time but often. If you mention it they just deny it. And say you are just stressed or something.

I have been with this surgery since I was a teenager (30+years) and I am sorry to say that the service is at an all-time low. It feels very clear that they have been plagued by staff issues and poorly managed changes in recent years, which has been very evident in the way that the surgery interacts with its patients. I have spoken to a number of friends and relatives who are with the same practice and no one has anything positive to say about the logistics of the surgery. Most of the doctors are very pleasant, when and if you can get an appointment. Typically you will have to ring several times to get an answer, only to be told that there are no appointments at all. You will then have to explain your condition or ailment to one of the secretaries, who apparently are now all trained triage nurses. Hardly ideal if your condition is of a personal nature or something that might be embarrassing to explain, knowing you will have to explain it again to the next person you speak to... and the next.... which you will as you are asked to call back and repeat yourself every morning at 8 am to see if they have any appointments. Ironically, the last two occasions I have managed to get to see a doctor, the waiting room was virtually empty and some of the doctors' rooms were empty... no wonder they don't have any appointments and the reception staff are stressed!

We are sorry to hear of your concerns and would urge you to contact the Practice Manager so these can be discussed in a more appropriate forum. As you allude to, we have experienced significant GP shortages over the past 2-3 years and as a consequence have had to introduce changes to the appointment system which allow us to make the best use of this reduced capacity, i.e. telephone triage. We are open to suggestions from our patients and would be interested to hear how you feel we could better manage the current set of problems (rising demand and GP shortages) which we, and many other GP Practices are now facing.
