A truly wonderful practice. I am the envy of everybody I know! I have significant health issues and contact the practice a couple of times a month. The wait to get to speak to reception is minimal, often less than a minute, hardly ever more than 5. The receptionists are friendly, helpful and efficent. Nothing is too much trouble. If I need a telephone appointment it's virtually always the same day, often within the hour. Those calls are pretty punctual; the doctors are very friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. I give a special call out for Doctors Armstrong, Bannister and Hafiz. These are the ones I usually see, so no slight intended on the others; these are all lovely people who talk to me as a friend. I could not overstate just how lovely, friendly, sympathetic and helpful these people are, an absolute credit to their profession. One more example of how good this practice is, some years ago when I had cancer, and needed some medication, one of the doctors came to deliver me medicine at home in their own time on Sunday Evening. This practice has been a life saver for me and I thank God for them.

I've been registered at this surgery now for 2 years, and must say I have never had a single problem. Receptionists and admin staff are friendly, caring and always try their hardest to find me an appointment that fits in with my working day. Surgery always smells and looks clean. Every single doctor, nurse or other practitioner I have seen has been kind, gentle and taken good care of me. One male doctor in particular, who I have seen regularly over the last 12 months has always taken the time to address any concerns I have had, and has made sure I have been happy with the course of treatment he's suggested. Referral's to the hospital have all been done quickly, and the doctor's at the surgery have wanted to see me after to see how I'm getting on. I cannot fault the surgery at all, and think of myself as extremely lucky to be a patient here! Thank you University Health Service.

the practice as a whole is generally difficult to deal with, reception staff sound tired, bored and never offer solutions, only denials of reasonable requests. the down-manning of the practice over summer means that services are not available all year round, but you cannot go elsewhere for these services without changing GP. Finally the wait time for appointments is long, I've never managed to get an appointment in less than a week, regardless of time of year.

Dear Patient, thank you for your comments, we always value feedback from service users. I would very much like the opportunity to explore your feedback in more detail so would be most grateful if you could contact me on my direct dial number 02380175168. In terms of the general comments you make, we have had some excellent feedback on this forum and via the Friends and Family feedback regarding our reception staff so I'm very sorry if you have had a negative experience. We don't "down-man" the service over the summer (apart from our Advanced Nurse Practitioners) - this is when Doctors take their annual leave so as to avoid taking leave during the busy term-time periods, all other services remain in place. In terms of appointment booking, we offer same day "duty appointments" for medical emergencies but I do agree that our waiting time for a routine appointment is about one week. Our Advanced Nurse Practitioners (in term time) also offer same day appointments for routine illnesses. With many thanks Wendy Fielder, Practice Manager
