When St Ann Street Surgery was its own surgery it was an ok practice but since merging into Three Chequers it has become a nightmare. The staff are clearly over worked and several staff members who were popular in the community left because of bad management. It usually takes 3-6 weeks to be able to book an appointment and the few appointments that are available at shorter notice are usually at a surgery that is inaccessible. Forget being able to see the same 'Family' GP as you have to take whatever appointment is available meaning there is no continuity in service and a different doctor every time. GPs are under severe time constraints and get you out as fast as they can without really having the time to listen properly. Mistakes are everywhere due to over stretched staffing levels and I have repeatedly been sent on wild trips as paper prescriptions have been mis-placed or lost between the multiple surgeries. Notices inform visitors that the surgery is especially busy at this time, yet this has been the case for the whole of the last year, suggesting that 'busy period' is the new normal for this surgery. No prior consultation about the the merger and didn't let any patients know. They claim it was impractical to inform everyone, yet how much does it cost to send a mass text/ email out to everyone with the same information? Absolutely terrible and a sign of the general decline and under funding of the NHS in general.

Following the merger of three practices it would appear that the St Ann Street surgery no longer has the same functions as it did previously. I have only been made aware of this yesterday (31st May) by a notice left in the lobby of our building, dated 16th May. I do feel that the Three Chequers Medical Practice should have advised patients personally of the changes, so that everyone is aware of the requirement to go further for medical attention. I use St Ann Street surgery to get a repeat prescription that is passed to the attached pharmacy. No mention has been made as to whether I can still do this. For elderly patients, of which I am one, this is not indicative of a caring, high quality medical centre.
