I have been a patient with this GP Practice for some 15 years . I received excellent care after a serious car accident and experienced swift and effective referrals to City and Sandwell hospitals for investigations into the posdible causes of what caused my blackout whist driving . In recent years i suffered an accident whist crosding a busy road and again i received excellent follow up care whereby i fully recovered . I have an underactivevthyroid which has always been taken great care of ... and anytime i have been concerned on any medical matter the GP Has listened carefully and consideratrly and activated any further investigations thoroughly and promptly . All members of staff are couteous and efficient . I have always got an appointment when i needed one . I cannit fault this practice and i alm very surprised it has been closed . . Though i have tpo say Broadway have made us feel wecome and the goid payient service has continued albeit nit with the same doctors and staff that i have appreciated so much over the years . I am niw 73 and feel very loathe to chsnge my GP and sincerely hope it will reopen again soon i do now however live out of the catchment area for this practice so i am safd to think i really ought to change to a GP neare to myself but i don’t want to .

I have been living in Birmingham City Centre for 15 years and the 2 GP practices I had initially attempted to register with, were so unfriendly and rather hostile that I eventually opted to bypass the GP step and pay Specialists privately whenever I needed medical care. In 2013 I fell very ill and inevitably I registered with the closest to me practice but, again, they were so horrible (the least I can say) that I again paid to be seen and have tests privately (although I have been working in the NHS for more than 30 years). In 2016 I became severely ill again with the same problem and my previous GP lied that they would come for a home visit as I was unable to move; after repeated lies they offered me an "urgent" appointment in ...3 weeks having not offered at least a phone consultation! In desperation I then called the Fiveways Health Centre asking if they could take me as their patient. Without a delay the lady at reception took my details, requested my records from the previous practice (without me having to do anything) and I was seen on the same day! Not only that, but also after the consultation with the doctor she called my workplace as I was unable to talk (I was so breathless) and faxed them the sick note so that they could, without delay, get cover for my absence. As of my professional training I am able to assess the competency of a doctor and I must say that the one I have seen the first time was so knowledgeable and caring that I tried to book any future appointments with her, even if this meant that I would have to wait for a week or longer (I know many people from other practices who have to wait 3 and 4 weeks to see their preferred doctor, so I feel very lucky). The problem I had seen her for had been dealt with in the past by experienced hospital Consultants but the treatment my GP prescribed, after listening carefully to the feedback I gave her, was a lot more effective than what I was given in the past so, this time, I recovered completely within a few weeks compared to several months I had needed in the past when managed by the Specialists. Needless to say how lblessed I feel to have access to top class medical care in my doorstep and how disappointed I was when I saw a notice yesterday (whilst trying to book an appointment) saying that the practice is temporarily closed. I hope that the services will soon resume as I feel rather lost at the moment and also because I have recommended the particular doctor to friends and their families who have recently moved to the area.
