Pharmacy Information |
We've made it our mission to take the hassle out of prescriptions. To do this, we're changing how we work so that we can give you more choice in how you get your medicines.
Whether you're under the weather or on long-term medicines, managing and collecting your prescriptions can add unnecessary extra stress. In the UK, the pharmacy model hasn't really moved on in the last 70 years, and we're working to change that.
Our pharmacies
We're developing a new store model which focuses on the things that matter most to our customers and fundamentally changes how our pharmacy teams work. We've redesigned the dispensing process and introduced new stock monitoring measures so that you don't have to wait for your medicines, and we've freed up our pharmacists to spend more time helping our customers.
As part of this, we're also bringing new technology into our pharmacies. This includes 24/7 prescription pick-up machines – meaning you can collect your medicine any time, day or night – and a text notification service, so we can let you know when your prescription is ready to collect.

I popped in to this pharmacy after finishing my weekly shop as I quite often do to browse the gift items as Christmas is on the way! I have never really had a bad experience at this pharmacy which is why I feel so compelled to write this review! Today, as I was stood chatting to one of the friendly front of house staff, I was thoroughly disappointed to see a young man in uniform sat down in the back of the shop using his phone! This pharmacy is usually a busy bubbly hive of activity.
I won’t let this one off stop me from returning or from recommending this pharmacy to friends and family but I felt the need to share my experience today and hope the company see this review as I’m sure they don’t pay their staff to ignore work and play on phones!! I regularly visit this pharmacy, and as part of my prescription I receive a "controlled drug" also known as a CD. When I'm given my CD, it is in a cardboard box; it is then wrapped in a clear plastic bag, with a sticker giving the prescription details. It is then put in a paper bag and handed to me. Please consider not using the clear plastic bags, it is a waste of resources and is completely unnecessary. It can't even be reused because the sticker is difficult to remove and rips the bag.
I've no idea how many plastic bags are wasted by in this way, but we all should be looking for ways of reducing our impact on the environment, and this includes the amount of packaging and plastic we use.
For prescriptions of one or two items, I’d also question whether the paper bag is required. I accept that some medications may be sensitive or of a private nature, and a bag would help to avoid any embarrassment to your customers, but other than this maybe you should ask the customers whether a paper bag is really needed.
In addition to helping the environment, reducing the number of bags you use; will of course save some money too. Original Comment Report... Reply from Well Marton - Cherry Tree Road
Wed, 22 Aug 2018 15:42:02 +0100 Dear Sir/Madam, Thank you for leaving your feedback regarding the usage of plastic bags at Well Marton. I would like to apologise if this has caused any upset. I would like to assure you that we use the plastic bags so that the pharmacist can perform a final accuracy check on the medication before it is given out. This is a safeguarding measure to ensure that the correct medication is handed to the patient. I will pass your feedback on to the pharm ..
