All the nursing staff were very attentive, caring and quick to respond when called. Everyone was very friendly. Prior to the operation the anaesthetist visited me to explain anaesthetic options to enable me to make an informed choice. I had complete trust in my surgeon who phoned me each day after the operation to check on my progress. He seemed to be well-respected by nursing and physiotherapy staff. Physiotherapists (on the ward and at a follow-up review) were very friendly, supportive, and positive about my progress. I was happy to be in the care of the duty Senior Staff Nurse who shared her personal experience of knee replacements and recovery. I welcomed her knowledge and attentive care throughout my stay. One criticism: Information provided stated that NHS visiting hours were restricted to 14:00-16:00 and 18:00-20:00 but, later, staff said visiting times were actually 11:00-20:00. |

Trying to book a radiology appointment privately at Springfield Hospital but processes are unnecessarily tedious and not timely. Called for an appointment and I was asked to email a referral letter. This done, I then waited an hour and called back only to be told that even though the email had been received, it now needed to be loaded onto the system before they would make contact to offer times. The reason I go privately is to avoid waiting times and sitting around waiting to be contacted, especially navigating this around work and meetings. I cannot understand why one cannot book the next availability so I can get on with planning. Other hospitals are much more efficient! Springfield hospital is becoming an expensive NHS. It may be better use of my time travelling into London. |
