I received only parts of a full eye test.
Machinery was not cleaned which I had to request and then they only used a piece of dry tissue.
They gave me a prescription stating 'NHS voucher issued' which it was not.
As they were offering free contact lens trial they took all info to order lenses and said they would call with fitting appointment. I waited a week, then i called them. They hadn't ordered anything and would give me a call in a few weeks when the lenses came in.
I also asked them about the NHS voucher to which they said i could come in and collect it. They said they did not give the voucher out at the same time as the prescription as it was of 'monetary value and i could lose it'.
On return they would not give me the voucher without I.D proving my eligibility. They said that their computer automatically prints by default 'NHS Voucher Issued' (which i think is terribly wrong if that is not the case).
I called the NHS who told me i was eligible for the voucher and they should not have withheld it from me. I asked if it could be cancelled and if i could start the process at a better opticians. NHS said that as specsavers had ticked the box 'voucher issued' even though it was not, I could not go and have a free sight test or get my voucher elsewhere.
I returned again to specsavers with relevant documentation. They again did not give me my voucher stating that the optician who did my eye test was not in and he had to sign the voucher.
It has been two moths since the sight test, my eyes are in pain and i am still nowhere closer to getting new glasses.
Specsavers give poor quality eye tests and withold NHS vouchers to force you to spend in store.
You are also unable to complain as each shop is privately owned and as the head office is in Guernsey different laws apply to them.
