Virginia Lodge is a residential care home for up to thirty-two older people, some of whom may also have dementia. It is managed by Mrs Julie Walsh. She, her husband and daughter own the service. The home is located approximately a mile and a half from the small border town of Longtown and is in a rural setting. Accommodation for people using this service is all at ground floor level and all the rooms are for single occupation.

Jan 21 2016 My father stays has been staying a this care home for more than a year now. They keep the place tidy and clean. The atmosphere is caring and fairly easy going for the residents with numerous activities organised for them. He is physically healthier than when he went in due to regular medication and their encouragement of him to walk to the dinning area. The caring staff are all local people in their middle age,which suits my father as he finds younger carers too loud and quick This place wins on the staff.

Apr 21 2014 My mother in law has dementia.We needed a break and visited many care homesSome I knew instictively that they were not suitable, smelling, dirty and the residents abandoned in lounges.Virginia Lodge, however, was clean and the residents were looked after and they could walk about and sit where they wanted, within reason. We agreed to have her stay in there for two weeks.When we went for her, she was happy, she was knitting (this is her obsession), she was clean and was happy to talk about her time in there.I was pleased and comfortable to leave her in their care and would do so again, if the opportunity arose.
