My Aunt has recently moved to Woodlands from her home, which was a bit worrying for her but the staff could not do enough to help her feel at ease and nothing has been too much trouble. Everyone has been so friendly and welcoming. Her room is lovely and everything is very comfortable and homely. The gardens are beautiful and we had an enjoyable afternoon when we attended the Summer BBQ, which was well organised, with plenty to eat and drink and wonderful company. In such a short space of time Woodlands has really become a home away from home.

If you are wanting to live in a posh hotel Woodlands is not for you. Its fees are more reasonable and it is more homely, providing good care for its residents. During my Mum's years living there, the staff were always friendly and helpful despite being busy and opportunity was given to have a more lengthy discussion with a senior member of staff by appointment whenever needed. Many of the staff seem to genuinely care for their residents and do their very best for them. The food is, perhaps, fairly average and there is a lot of time spent sitting, but activity sessions and some outings are organised to provide some stimulation and break up the day. It is unfortunate that regulations prevent enthusiastic residents, such as my Mum when she first moved in, from helping with some kitchen/domestic tasks to help keep more occupied and maintain a "role". The home is kept clean and well maintained and the garden is a great asset giving a restful outdoor space for both residents and their visitors to take a walk or just to sit and enjoy birdsong. As my Mum's health deteriorated, there was no question of her having to move to a higher dependency unit, but excellent care was provided for her in what was now her home. Thank you

My dear cousin who could no longer cope alone went into Hill Brow Residential Care in December 2013. Despite her reluctance to move, Hill Brow managed to persuade her to "try them out" and she was allocated a lovely room with en suite and patio doors to the garden. Her own items were taken in along with some belonging to Hill Brow and she was comfortably installed. Sadly her stay there wasn't as long as we would have liked but during her final 8 months we could not have wished for a better place. The staff were caring and jolly - their patience and attention always evident. Hill Brow ensure that there are activities available and a nicer group of people you would not find anywhere - both residents and staff. Outings are arranged and are very popular and visiting entertainment is organised too. The food is excellent - quality and quantity - and snacks (for instance tea and biscuits) is frequently offered. Visiting is very open of course and it was a joy to make a visit at whatever time of day - finding both the private and public rooms clean, bright and cheerful. I am pleased to recommend Hill Brow to anyone looking for care for a member of their family - the standards at all levels are maintained at a high level; the people are delightful and helpful and give confidence to residents and family members alike. Well done Hill Brow and thank you for caring for my cousin.
