I am somewhat shocked and dismayed at the poor attention to detail at this home. Initially, my cousin and I were left for in excess of 10 minutes awaiting for the front door to be opened. The member of staff who runs the office appeared with their 'cup of tea' from another building. We are talking about 11-30am Upon entering the Home, we passed the Nurses Station. It was unattended. Moving on we came to a day room. Plenty of Staff here with the Patients. Her husband was not here but in the next room. Only elderly patients were here. No Staff. Having chatted to her husband I could hear Bronchial problems. He had been seen by a Doctor on a previous day and given antibiotics. H'm behind his chair, on a cool'ish day was an open window. I am sure he found that helpful. I then noticed his luncheon side table was filthy. It had at least two layers of dried food stains upon it. Certainly not cleaned that day. The elderly gentleman sitting in the chair alongside was heard shouting for the nurse. He also was shouting 'Help'. It did not appear to me that he was in serious trouble so we left well alone for the nurses to deal with. However after 20 mins of no attention I went a sort a nurse who begrudgingly came to his assistance. I was so disappointed that my cousins husband had to spend time in this unacceptable establishment. I am approaching 80, I have a depression having lost my soul mate and, have considered, that soon I might need a home to spend my last days. No way would I accept such a place. It frightens me the lack of care and cleanliness. |
