I went from hospital for further rehabilitation to Atkinson Court to help my walking, I was given the best ever treatment.
The therapy received was great and I am now able to live at home with community help.
The home and staff were kind and polite.
Thank god for this place and people. |

My lovely mum in law stayed here for approximately 4-5 weeks on the dementia unit.
We received a phone call saying that she had become unwell & was being admitted to St James Hospital.
Upon admittance a Nurse approached us concerned about the bruising on my Mum in Laws chest & top of her arms, the nurse said the bruising was not consistent with a fall. We were later told by the consultant that she was so de-hydrated on arrival at the hospital that he didn't expect her to survive the night, she also had a pressure sore.
Our immediate worry was that we did not want her to return to Atkinson Court under any circumstances, sadly this became a decision we did not have to make.
During my Mum in Laws time in hospital, not once did we receive a phone call from Atkinson Court enquiring after her, & when I had to go collect her belongings from Atkinson Court I found the nurse in charge of the dementia unit to be quite frankly indifferent to our loss.(although the carer who accompanied me to my Mum in Laws bedroom was very nice) I would not recommend this place to anyone. |

A relative stayed in Atkinson Court for a few days. Oh yes, it has attractive en-suite rooms, and communal areas - BUT - (and not in any particular order)
The bathroom light kept going off and it wasn't fixed.
The food was served cold and was extremely unpalatable.
The receptionist was very unhelpful and unapproachable.
There were not enough staff to cope with patient needs. During my visits I heard many people calling out for help; people who had pressed their buzzers but no one came to assist them.
My relative was deeply unhappy with the level of care she received during her stay in this facility. |
