Choosing the right care home is a difficult decision but Dove Court proved to be the very best choice we could have made for my mother. The friendly, family atmosphere, the staff’s obvious commitment to caring, and their remarkable attention to detail helped us decide we had found the right place. The people who work there make Dove Court special.
Every single member of staff made Mum feel welcome from the first moment she arrived. Their excellent care and kindness lifted her spirits day by day and she felt safe and secure in the knowledge that all her needs would be met. My mother was allowed to keep her dignity and pride but had the reassurance that help was always at hand. She was treated with cheerfulness, sensitivity and professionalism by everyone and was able to depend on the staff for her increasing needs. She enjoyed their support and good company, and looked upon her carers as friends.
Within Mum’s personal accommodation of a large bedroom/living room and en-suite bathroom there was plenty of space for her treasured and personal possessions. We were able to fill her rooms with new and familiar items to create a cosy environment that really felt like home. We visited frequently and found a warm welcome ourselves whenever we went. Unrestricted visiting times meant we could go as often as we wanted and at a time to suit.
While privacy was always respected, help was available at all times with personal care. The separate bathing and shower facilities allowed for independence or full and careful assistance. The shared dining rooms and lounges provided an opportunity to spend time with others and an enjoyable alternative to the comfort of a resident’s room. There were plenty of activities available regularly and special treats added an extra touch of pleasure for everyone on many occasions throughout the year.
My mother enjoyed the food, despite being a fussy eater, and liked that there were always choices for each meal and plenty of snacks available whenever she fancied anything. She also liked being warm enough to sit comfortably all day as she found it made her arthritis a little easier. All areas of the home were kept clean and tidy at all times and any practical or administrative matters that needed sorting out were dealt with willing and efficiently. Staff were always on hand to talk to resident's friends or relatives and to offer assistance. Monthly meetings offered a good opportunity for families to meet and to discuss any matters of interest or concern with managers and staff.
Without a doubt, we would recommend Dove Court to anyone; we had complete confidence in the high standard of care given at all times. We will always be comforted by the fact that my mother’s last home was an exceedingly good one. To have the pleasure of seeing her so comfortable and content was of the highest value to her family.
Our thanks go to every single member of staff there for the marvellous work they do each day - their dedication is inspirational. |
