May 22 2019 Just been to visit an elderly patient recently discharged from hospital after hip surgery. Patient in extreme pain, isolated in a room on the second floor, naked on her bed and desperate for the toilet. On attempting to locate staff for assistance, 3 were located in a staff room who said they were not allowed to lift the patient and had no lifting equipment to do so. They stated that that they are a residential home and not a hospital! Patient originally fell breaking a hip on Easter weekend and was left waiting for 7 hours for an ambulance to arrive. She is rambling as a result of being on morphine. When mentioned that another fall could be dangerous and she could be undiscovered for hours in the event of a fall, staff just shrugged stating it was not their problem. What a pitiful state our countries NHS and care system is in.
