Opened in February 2010, Oak Lodge is a new, purpose-built home designed for elderly residents, including those in need of specialist dementia care. It lies in the pleasant residential area of Bitterne, four miles from the centre of Southampton, and is close to local shops and amenities. Watch the video below to take a look inside.
The care we offer
Oak Lodge offers the very best care to suit residents individual needs. We provide long-term, nursing, dementia care, and respite to enable carers to take a much-deserved break. Oak Lodge also offers post-operative care. Only registered nurses and well-trained care assistants are employed to provide excellent 24-hour care in a professional and respectful manner.
Food
Soon after every residents arrival at Oak Lodge, their food needs and preferences are discussed. Our experienced chef caters for all individual requirements. Meals are freshly prepared, nutritionally checked, and cooked with fresh ingredients. A tasty, varied and seasonal menu is provided daily, with a choice of hot or cold options available. Residents can choose to eat in one of our traditional yet sociable dining rooms, or in their own room, if they prefer.
Activities
Varied activities are very important, for stimulation of the mind and body and to enhance the residents sense of wellbeing. All Bupa care homes have a dedicated activity co-ordinator. They ensure that there is always something enjoyable for every resident to do each day for all levels of ability.Residents are also encouraged to keep up with any personal hobbies or long-standing interests they had before entering the home if they wish.
Entertainers are always a favourite and outings to local places of interest often take place. Friends and family are always most welcome to join in. A calendar of themed, monthly events that include Pancake day, a summer garden party and Christmas celebrations to name just a few.

Jul 6 2017 My wife was a resident at Oak Lodge for over 6 years and I went in twice daily during this period. I have nothing but praise for the nurses and carers who at all time were committed and caring at above their call of duty. During my wife's period in the nursing home I only had a couple of minor complaints which were effectively dealt with immediately. I noticed in the 2017 CQC report that the staffing levels were not satisfactory. This at odd times is correct but the management fight a daily battle with casual sickness and are often not told a that a member of staff is unwell until it is too late for the management to arrange alternative staff. Casual sickness unfortunately seems to be endemic in this industry. I would definitely recommend this nursing home to anyone whose relative requires nursing and care to a high standard.
