Villa Scalabrini is a Roman Catholic Residential Home open to people of all denominations. It was established to provide care mainly for elderly Italian people and right from the beginning the Italian Community has given its full support to the project. Villa Scalabrini was opened in July 1986 and since then it has undergone a complete makeover. Villa Scalabrini is a large detached building in approximatley 25 acres of grounds, much of which is accessible to Residents though attractive walkways, patios and gardens. There is an internal chapel and an external "grotto" which is located in the vast gardens. Due to its special status, Villa Scalabrini though being a Residential Home, is given permission by the Commission for Social Care to cater for the needs of people with nursing needs as well as people suffering from Dementia after the individual cases have been properly assessed.
