We thought that Merlin Court was going to be a safe place for my father to spend time. Unfortunately this was not the case .. the decor is fairly fancy but the care most certainly isn’t. . The first floor was permanently understaffed and at night the reliance on agency carers meant there was a very inconsistent level of care. One night no agency carers turned up so 2 staff were there to look after 24 residents over a 12 hour night shift. Because of the persistent and chronic under staffing the first floor is run in a way that suits the skeleton staff not for the benefit of the residents. Personal care was decidedly patchy and on some days not done at all.The staff were not all trained or experienced to deal with dementia patients. There are many activities going on downstairs but there was no attempt to involve the residents from the first floor ... things are very different on the first floor to the ground floor. I would not recommend this care Home for any one with dementia |
