Pendruccombe House

My father in law used this service until he passed away. I cant explain the care and compassion shown by all of the staff, from management right down to the cleaners in looking after him in his final days. My family and myself were always welcomed and shown the care that we needed at a difficult time for us.

I have an elderly family member currently in Pendruccombe Nursing Home. In the main the care is good. Each resident is allocated a single bedroom which can be personalised . Each month there is a programme of activities for residents including daytrips out. On the downside there is often only two carers on duty per floor per shift. With the busy schedules it would appear staff have little time to spend with each resident. My relative requires a great deal of assistance with personal hygiene, dressing and requires feeding. At times when I visit I observe that there is an inadequate number of staff on duty to undertake these tasks at the frequency which my relative requires. The laundry service for residents is very disorganised. Personal items and clothing sent to the laundry frequently go missing despite each item being labelled with my relative's detail. How difficult can it be to wash an item and then return it to the person when their name is either written or sewn onto the item? On a more positive note the staff at the home are always very pleasant, friendly and do their best in what must be at times difficult circumstances. There is one particular carer (am not permitted to name unfortunately) who is very professional, kind and caring. In my opinion this carer is outstanding.
