Having had a dental phobia because of treatments meted out in the 50s and 60s I had a real terror of dentists. I had no real problem with my teeth apart from a horrendous build up of plaque, so never bothered visiting a dentist. I decided I'd better make an appointment because I didn't want a dental emergency and not have a dentist to help me. No more terrifying chair or instruments and drills surrounding you! Very friendly and helpful dentists explaining problems and potential problems. I've had some really good deep cleaning of teeth and gums over the past year and a half which has saved me from potentially horrible gum disease. X-rays taken and a single filling. I'm still a bit nervous but nothing really and I've never had any pain whatsoever during treatment. The dentist explains, chats and lets you be in charge, the nurses are wonderful at putting you at ease too. So unlike the dentist monsters of old (but they meant well I'm sure). My last dentist of 35 years ago said I needed 4 fillings, which in hindsight were probably unnecessary, but I never went back. Thank you to all the staff. If you are like I was, visit Sherborne Dental Centre. |
