I have been trying to make an appointment regarding a scan I had 3 months ago . An ongoing health issue is causing me me now to take time off work . I cannot book an appointment online as there are none available, telephoning at 8 am is pointless as I am regularly on hold for more than an hour only to be told no appointments left . Recently I had to call 111 just to get a prescription . This surgery has recently announced they are able to take in more patients….how? They cannot fulfil services for the patients they already have . | ||||||

I have been trying to see doctors for months for ongoing issues but you have to call up every morning at 8am, hold on for and hour or more before being answered - if they don’t cut you off - only to be told by a rude untrained receptionist that this isn’t a critical issue Well, sometimes doctors need to treat acute issues too and if you’ve had a problem for years with no treatment it becomes a bigger problem!! Worst doctors surgery I’ve ever had the misfortune of using!! | ||||||

Doctors ant staff nurses are good if you can get an appointment but telephoning for appointments is very frustrating and recent experience of turning up in the morning with a child resulted in no appointment being able to be offered at all in the near future.
Receptionist triaged by asking about symptoms before deciding to give appointments so be aware that understating the issue might not be an effective strategy for getting past the front desk. Was directed to emergency service in Bedford if needing medical advice within less than 8 days. Difficult with children because the best outcome for you is that your visit was unnecessary and the issue resolves itself but sometimes you just need to check anyway.
Maybe I’m wrong but I feel that they must be so oversubscribed that it’s only the place to go if you feel you desperately need a hospital referral rather than are unsure about something and would like to seek medical advice. Might hunt around and seek an alternative which is a little less pressured ( if there is one) | ||||||
