Often I feel frustrated with the level of care for patients. I called on a Thursday morning for an appointment, although the phone line said I was 7th in the queue (I called at 8am on the dot) I didn't get an appointment. Told there were appointments available that afternoon, and I should call or come to the surgery at 1pm to avail myself of those appointments. Got to the surgery at 12:45. Told 'Oh sorry we are closed for appointments on Thursday afternoon'. I couldn't believe it. I said to the receptionist that I was specifically told to come in to make an appointment that afternoon. After a big sigh from the receptionist, for whatever reason the receptionist could then book me in for an appointment. I feel that if I hadn't pressed the issue I would have been turned away. Why is there such inconsistent messaging to patients? Why do you have to question reception before you can get an appointment? Is it easier to just turn people away? Unfortunately in my experience this type of incident is not a one off. |

When you are feeling at your lowest due to illness, what you want and need are people to come out and bat for you and to make your path back to wellness as easy and obstacle free as possible. Today, I can't thank the reception staff, the nurses and the doctors at both surgeries for doing all that they could to make my life easier. They went well beyond the call of duty because they recognised I needed the help and for that, I am eternally grateful. I've worked in primary care so I know that the issues regarding appts are not exclusive to this surgery. Every surgery is affected. However, I am also well that this surgery goes out of its way to rectify any problems if and when they arise and that is all I can ask for as a patient. Thank you once again to all of the staff, it was a team effort..... you did good! |

I have been trying for 9 days twice day to get an appointment to see a GP. Keep being told to call back as no appointments available. Called one afternoon at 12.45pm to be told that I am 4th in the queue. Finally got through to someone at 13.32pm to be told all appointments have been taken. When I asked how many slots they give out, I was told 5. So I said that I should have the fourth slot, to be told that the system doesn't work that way as there is a queue forming at reception and that they take precedence. So I go to the practice at 8am to be told there are no appointments and I was to phone. Now I am waiting for a GP to call me, which should be fun as I have completely lost my voice!
Rude, unhelpful staff. Service at this practice needs good overhaul. More training given to staff. I work for the NHS so I do know patients should be treated. If I could change GP I would, but there are no local GP's taking on new patients! |
