Receptionist booked me in for a telephone appointment, she gave me a specific time. A week later when it rolled around I didn't get the call. So, after an hour and a half had passed the appointment time with no call, I called the surgery, and was told she shouldn't have told me that, and told me I was on the list to be called at a later time. When that later time came, I waited two hours beyond that time, and still no call.... I then called the surgery again, and this time I was told that the first receptionist booked it in wrong and put an entry in the message box rather than the call list, and that I'm in the call list section for a date that I'd booked a physical appointment! Time is of the essence for me in this particular situation. Clearly some of the receptionists there are a bit scatty to say the least....

During the last year we have been heavily reliant on temporary staff to help us during a protracted recruitment phase. I am sorry that your experience with our staff was less than it should have been. We now have an Operations Manager in post who works very closely with the reception team supporting and guiding them through the myriad of appointment types that we use. We operate a triage system for patients who are acutely unwell and who need to be seen on the day. (These slots are not bookable in advance on other days). I am sorry that you were given an advance booking. Patients are added to the on call list for the Duty Doctor on the day they call and the doctor will prioritise the calls by nature of the problem presenting and its urgency. These are not timed appointments. Patients are advised to keep their phone available to take the call. We also operate a 48 hour response service for messages left for the doctors and these tend to deal with administrative queries such as sickness certificates and should not be used for the unwell. Once again I am sorry you were wrongly booked on more than one occasion. We now have a full cohort of staff who are undergoing vigorous training with one new started joining us in June. Your comments will be used as part of learning and development across the team.

Called and asked to see a DR, the receptionist recimmended I see a nurse (because obviously the receptionist is qualified to make this judgement call) The nurse I saw today had no bedside manner, she was rude, unhelpful and abrupt. Left me in tears and now looking for a new Drs surgery.

Our Nurse Practitioner has specialist training and is an Independent Nurse Prescriber. She sees and treats many patients referred to her by the triage doctor and also booked directly by our reception staff who have received training to enable them to offer appropriate appointments with a variety of clinicians working at the practice. She is able to see and treat many conditions, she is minor ailments trained, Diabetes and Asthma trained. She is also the Locality Lead Nurse for Wallington. I am sorry that the owner of this comment felt unhappy with the consultation with our Nurse Practitioner. Perhaps they would like to contact the practice directly to discuss their concerns.

The on line booking system does not make it clear when you are booking with the nurse practitioner rather than a doctor. I wanted to see a doctor bur did not get to see one. It took a great deal of courage to ask for help to cope with my daughter's wedding as her father (my husband) died very suddenly a few years ago. I want to enjoy the day to the full. I was told in no uncertain terms that there was nothing they could do and that it was fine to get upset. The NP said that they would check with a doctor and ring me. She did this and called to say that there was nothing she could do. The NP could not get off the phone fast enough. Clearly very little empathy. and total lack of emotional intelligence. I am not always seeing a doctor. The last time was several years ago. So I am not a serial hypochondriac but rather someone asking for help.
