Only bothering to write this review as I see the surgery currently has a 1 star review and this has not been my experience at all.
I've seen a couple of different doctors over the past few years of living in the area and found them understanding of what have been traumatic problems for me and helpful and knowledgable in recommending treatments and keeping in touch with me to check on my progress. |

This has been my GP surgery for about 14 years - and has always been excellent. But last week something a bit odd happened. I received a call from reception asking me if I could take a call from a GP an hour later. I'd been for a routine health check the day before and was told something in the results was of concern to the GP and they needed to speak to me asap. Boy did I sweat for a couple of hours! But when they phoned (much later than scheduled) I was given a clean bill of health. Might need to take statins in 3-5 yrs time but otherwise fine. The locum GP (not a regular) had had a disagreement with me a year or so ago (losing face) and I think they remembered me and decided to wind me up. Well at least now I know what sort of feeling it will be if ever I do get some bad news out of the blue. I wrote above that it made me sweat which is not quite correct - it was more of a cold feeling, with a nervous shaking I couldn't stop. But what a relief to find all ok. Still it did leave me feeling very strange and I've come here to share the story. I might change my GP as I think there is someone here playing with my emotions and I don't like that idea. Other than that, a good surgery, efficient and helpful. |

I have experienced many, many problems with this surgery over the two years I have been here and am soon to leave due to poor service.
My first appointment, I got encouraged to make online. I did so, and the online system booked me in for a Saturday. I turned up, ill (hence the appointment) and waited for an hour in the cold hoping someone might pop by and I must have got the hour wrong. I finally got hold of a different practice, I was informed they are closed on Saturdays. No apology was given when I tried to rebook.
Another appointment, I was in pain in my hands. When seeing the doctor, they laughed at me and told me 'it was odd'. This was not very helpful or comforting, and did not solve the problem. I felt too uncomfortable to return for this issue.
Another time, I went for a repeat prescription of my contraceptive pill. They changed the prescription without asking or telling me, to a cheaper version of the pill. This had mental health effects and left me unexplainably depressed for three months until I was able to get a new prescription to revert back to my previously prescribed medication.
With a different health problem, I saw multiple different doctors despite asking for the same one, and each time had to recount the problem due to poor note-taking on my records.
My husband has also received some very poor service here. He has been severely ill for a few months. When first seen, he was told to come back in two weeks if nothing had changed. Later we were told by specialists he shouldn't have even waited more than three days, so this was awful advice. During the process to diagnose him, he was asked for wrong samples which had to be re-taken, the wrong bloods were taken and had to be done again, and it took multiple attempts to take blood for no good reason. We were told he had been referred for a specialist appointment at the start of November. When some other results came through a few weeks later, we were told "Okay, now we'll refer you." This wasted three weeks. We finally saw a specialist in January, and still weren't contacted about the results by the start of February - despite the surgery having received the results over 3 weeks prior. Many other problems have also arisen during this process.
We are appalled at the service received at the surgery, and are now leaving. I would recommend other patients do the same. |
