This GP practice was once a lovely place, unfortunately now after going for over 25 years it is full of red tape and rules that suit the practice and staff, in particular the GP's. I do not feel these rules help me as a patient.
Stretton should become it own separate practice not attached to Branston, it is no good that you can only see a certain GP on certain days.
Stretton village has got bigger but the GP hasn't really, the car park is terrible, a rule should be you have to live in stretton, the old part of stretton. not the new estates.
The practice may have gotten worse because more staff are needed, a new GP building is needed. Reply from Tansey Branch Mon, 04 Dec 2017 11:27:50 Z I am disappointed to read that you feel Stretton Medical Centre does not meet your needs. I would be very happy to discuss these in more detail, especially the 'red tape and rules' you speak of. Angie - Office Manager |

It can often be hard to get an appointment and phoning in the morning usually results in the phone being engaged, but with such a huge demand for their services this is to be expected.
The receptionists have been nothing other than helpful and professional. All of the doctors I have seen there have been professional and not at all dismissive (even to a hypochondriac like me) |

I have been with this practice for about two years now, and I have had both good and bad experiences here.
Unfortunately, I do not get along with my named doctor, as they are very rude and condescending, particularly when discussing my mental health challenges. I was once told that my depression was caused by "not being positive enough", and that perhaps I wasn't suffering from mental health issues, rather I was just a negative person. This is despite receiving a diagnosis from a psychiatrist and being under the care of the psychiatric team.
I had another issue with another doctor, where I had a severe physical health problem that had been going on for several months. After a quick blood test, they said they couldn't figure out what was wrong with me, and they said: "you're just going to have to live with it". This left me quite distressed.
As for other doctors in the surgery, I have had some good experiences (I wish I could name them, but it says I'm not allowed!) as they were very welcoming, friendly, put me at ease, and really went the extra mile to help resolve my problems. They also never made me feel like they were rushing me out. I try to see these doctors if possible whenever I come to the surgery.
I have mixed experiences with the staff on reception - some of them are absolutely lovely, can't do enough for you, very thorough and friendly. Others keep you waiting for ages at the window, and when they finally come over they make you feel like you're interrupting whatever they were doing. Some of them also go back to their computers and make you shout your personal details across to them.
If you have online access, it is usually fairly easy to get an appointment, sometimes for the same day but usually for at least the day after.
Overall, I would say that I would recommend this surgery, it's just a shame that in my experience a few members of staff let the others down. |
