I really struggle to get non urgent appointments that are suitable around working hours. The earliest is 8.30 or latest is 4.50. I have had to book a month in advance to get these times and the surgery have not sent me a reminder text (even though I signed up for this service through their website) so the appointment could have easily been forgotten about. They need to offer more convenient appointments for people who work full time. I have tried several times to register for online access however i have not been granted this as yet and we are at least six months down the line. I try to call them during my lunch break but the surgery phonelines are closed 12.30 till 2. How are you supposed to access the surgery if you work full time. When I have managed to get an appointment I have found the doctor and nurses to be very good however I feel if they could put a little more effort in on the admin side to at least give me online access it would make life much easier. |

I myself do not use the Gp services very often at all, I have 3 kids all generally healthy, but when ever my children or myself need an appointment there is never any availability. When you finally see someone (usually either a nurse or not your doctor) they are usually so pushy to get you in and out you are not able to talk to them about your concerns. I would definitely not recommend this gp service to anybody. Reply from The Atherstone Surgery Thu, 15 Feb 2018 14:42:58 Z Sorry that you had problems obtaining an appointment with your doctor. It is practice policy to offer an appointment with an alternative clinician or advise to come to open surgery(twice a week) or if the condition is urgent then a telephone triage slot on the same day that you called and of course a clinician will then assess as to whether you need to be seen that day. Every appointment is 10 minutes and every patient is given that allotted time. Inevitably some appointments will last longer and on rare occasions 10 minutes is not needed. If you would like to contact the Practice Manager with more details of the events you talk of she will be very happy to discuss with you. |

I struggle with agoraphobia and other mental health issues, most of the reception staff are usually alright and understanding of this, but a few times I’ve rang up regarding sick notes and a specific lady who answers is extremely snarky and rude, makes it almost feel as if I’m interrupting her day and shouldn’t be calling, i understand people have off days, but when you’re working on reception, I would of thought you’d be required to have atleast some people skills.
The actual doctors themselves are lovely people, but unfortunately the reception staff have left an extreme sour taste in my mouth. |
