The doctors have never been anything other than extremely helpful and supportive. They listen sympathetically to what patients tell them and provide the best care and remediation available. We are privileged to have this practice in our area. |

On Thursday 23 August I realised that my wife had been quite unwell for a number of days, resorting to bed on a number of occasions. At 2:30 PM, on her behalf, I contacted the GPs. I explained that she had been feeling tired, seemingly with cough/cold symptoms and complaining of pains in the right side of her chest. The receptionist responded very positively, and asked if we could make it to the surgery at 2:50 PM – that was just 20 minutes later!
At the Practice, the doctor expressed notable concern. My wife believed that he had an initial reluctance to resort to antibiotics, but realising that she had a raised temperature and that we were heading into a bank holiday weekend, he did prescribe them. He asked that my wife return next day, on Friday, for blood tests. She was also asked to go to Northwich hospital for a chest x-ray.
By the next morning (Friday) the benefits of the antibiotic were showing positive effect. She attended for blood tests, and went to Northwich for the x-ray. This again was handled very promptly by the hospital.
On the Saturday morning she was definitely improving, but we were both surprised when the phone rang with an unexpected call from the Out of Hours Doctor. He had picked up an alert from the blood test reports. He spoke of wishing to see her, feeling that antibiotics were possibly required. She advised him that they had already been prescribed, and she was improving. He was still concerned but satisfied with that situation. But he stressed that, should anything worsen, she must promptly contact 111. He said to expect contact from the Surgery the following week.
My wife attended the practice on Thursday 30th, seeing the Advanced Nurse Practitioner. It transpired that the blood test had exhibited notable infection, hence the out of hours doctor’s concern. She asked that another blood test be carried out in a months’ time, followed by a further chest x-ray. |
