It never ceases to surprise me how rude and abrupt the majority of doctors at this practice are. I hardly ever visit the surgery but once in a while when I do I am made to feel like I have wasted their time and the discriminate against my age. I am told not to worry about my symptoms as I am young and quickly offered painkillers which I always refuse. I am there to find the cause of my symptoms which requires medical examination, not an array of painkillers with multiple side effects. I don't want to be encouraged to take drugs, I just want to be listened to and be provided with appropriate information and advice. If I go in with a problem it's because it's genuine and it is causing me discomfort. I just want a medical examination first before being offered painkillers. I should not have to tell a doctor they should be looking at my bloods before handing out pain killers left right and center.
I am shocked that within two minutes of seeing me I was offered multiple painkillers despite refusing them all. It seems they will do anything to get rid of a patient so they can stick to their targets, clearly doctors are overworked and have lost their human touch. Their blank and suspicious stares as soon as you enter the room follows rude abrupt behavior. They are supposed to have a duty of care towards patients but they don't know the basics of interacting with people. Just because I am young does not mean I can never be ill. Don't put posters in your surgery about seeing the doctor if you are concerned about something if the doctor's themselves are going to discriminate against people's age. I won't be surprised if they discriminate against other protective characteristics. |

trying for an appointment is a night mare, you can ring and ring with little or no joy. why is it not possible to book an appointment the week you ring them but be given one the following month ? I also believe you should have some kind of continuity of care instead of seeing some random locum who has no clue who you are. Results from apointment/tests or xray results being mislaid resulting in delays in continuing care. No wonder the C.Q.C. are not very good. |

iv had problems with one of the receptionists, about three times this year alone im Asthmatic and in the last year i have had about 3 Asthma attacks due to Allergies or a chest infections, one occasion i went to the practice and asked for a repeat prescription of inhalers etc i was told do u know what u need, i said everything and was asked to fill out one of your small forms all because it was quicker for the receptionist, i waited a week and nothing came, i then then had to go to see a doctor for my Asthma and i was told off a different person it hadn't even been done, i tried to tell the Asthma nurse yet she never seemed to have taken notice and gave me my inhalers.. iv had another occasion when the same receptionist has fobbed me off.. the last time i was there was about 10 days ago i had a bad Asthma attack and i asked that if i waited could i see the doctor or nurse, and was told i could either go to ponteland road surgery or phone 111.. i was already at the doctors in elswick so i phoned 111 only to be told they would send an ambulance out 60 seconds later the same receptionist had put me in to see the doctor i felt stupid as the doctor sorted me out but the ambulance people had turned up only to be told to go as the doctor was seeing to me.. i know im not able to expect an appointment asap but i have uncontrolled asthma and this year alone it has been bad, i was willing to wait i should be classed as a priority if im that bad for the nhs to send an ambulance out to assess my condition, about a week and a half later to this day im still having trouble with my chest and when i phone the doctors im always told i have to phone up before 8 most of the time im at work i should be able to pre book my appointment in advance everyone should the way it use to be.. the doctors are great, very helpful but one or two of your reception staff need to know how to treat your patients and to priorities peoples need there and then.. |
