I was experiencing quite severe issues and was given an appointment with the nurse. She was brilliant and phoned the registrar at the hospital for further advice. I was told to see the GP if my symptoms persisted or go straight to A & E. They did, so I made an appointment with the GP. He was rude and insulting, strongly insinuating that my symptoms were fabricated and, basically, just fobbed me off. I obtained a private consultation and received private treatment within days thank goodness. I find the attitude of that particular GP at Derwent Surgery VERY worrying indeed. | ||||||

Phoned the receptionist for an appointment ,unfortunately the doctor was on holiday therefore I would have to phone the next week early in the morning on the days the doctor was sitting. would just like to thank the receptionist I spoke to as she took the time to call myself back to say I could attend Sunday surgery ,she got my appointment sorted such a lovely lady, was really nice very polite and understanding of my needs and wishes which is brilliant, fantastic service I received thankyou again I really appreciate what you have done | ||||||

My father is getting on a bit and has cancer. Yesterday, I went to an appointment with him. Firstly there were two people in the room, two doctors, no one asked if this was acceptable to my father before he attended his appointment. They seemed to completely ignore my fathers wishes and clearly wanted to take control of his future. As usual they showed little respect towards myself, in fact I was treated as though I didn't know anything about my father and his healthcare wishes which we had discussed at length before his appointment with the GP & other Doctor. My father has full capacity and is intelligent, he told the Gp that he did not want to go into a Hospice in the Future in particular Scarborough ( because we live near York, not Scarborough (Scarbourough is double the distance and it would be very difficult for his family to visit him), The doctor completely ignored his wishes and it seems quite happy to totally ignore my him. My father has always made it clear that he wants to deal with York Hospital & their healthcare team. I have already had a truly shocking experience with this surgery and the aggressive way they deal with things, its has a very old fashion culture, and treats people with no respect or dignity. Please be aware that my father had given full consent for all healthcare professionals to involved myself in discussions regarding his healthcare. This surgery is run in a very aggressive manor by the doctors & managers, they do not ask the right questions and make judgements without knowing the full facts, its totally unprofessional. I live in fear of the future!!!! | ||||||
