I am new to this surgery and have visited a lot lately as I have just had a baby, the surgery is nice and the doctors and nurses have been great but I am really shocked by how rude the reception staff are. Firstly I visited to make my first midwife appointment but was sent away and told to come back when I was 10 weeks pregnant, after waiting until I was 8 weeks pregnant and felt that I should have seen a midwife by then for the tests that are needed to be done I returned to the surgery to question this, to which I was told there are no midwife appointments available for 6 weeks, I was shocked and could not understand why I had been sent away 2 weeks earlier! un able to make me an appointment soon enough they gave me the number of the Malton Midwifery ward and told me to call them myself to make an appointment, I called the ward and was then given a talking down from the midwife saying I should have been seen by now and tests should have been done! they managed to squeeze me in that weekend for an appointment. Further more on a number of occasions I have waited by the desk to make an appointment just to be ignored by the receptionist in front of me, I am aware that they are busy but it does not take any time to just say "I will be with you in a minute" after waiting a good few minutes and for the receptionist not even to look up from her computer screen I have given up and left! My mother has also just joined this practice and was also greeted by the same rude receptionist, who was not helpful and made her feel like a nuisance. |

Called up this morning to order a prescription, a lady asked for my address I was trying to find my address as I have a short term memory and she appeared to be very moody and miserable wish I said something to her. I feel that they should be more understanding and be more cheerful Imade me feel very disappointed and something should be done about it. |

Regarding ongoing issues (not one off problems) why can I not get an appointment to see the same Doctor in less than several weeks, even speaking to a medical person seems to take at least two weeks for a phone call. This results in having to relate complex histories to often an unknown and unfamiliar Doctor. This situation does not provide the NHS personal healthcare service expected by the community. This leads to much unnecessary distress and frustration and gives to depressing feeling that patients are involved in an uncaring bureaucracy. |
