I am surprised to read so many negative reports about this surgery. I have been a patient here for four years and have always been treated with respect and found the staff to be friendly and helpful. There has only been one occasion in that time where I felt the Doctor was under time pressure and a bit lacking in empathy but we all have our off days.
Yes, it is frustrating to find that there are no appointments for general Ill health problems but my wife, who stayed with her own surgery after we moved, has exactly the same problem with her surgery which suggests this is a general problem rather than being specific to My Health Group.
There have been a few occasions where I have run out of a prescription on medication I need to take every day due to my own lack of planning and in every instance the surgery has had a duty doctor call me about it within a few hours. On each occasion the doctor has immediately sent my prescription electronically to the local chemist for me to collect the same day.
Again, unlike my wife’s surgery, it is easy to get to see a doctor the same day if the need is urgent.
Unfortunately the NHS generally is under huge pressure. It would be wonderful to have a single family doctor who you could see whenever you needed to. Growing up we had the same family doctor for many years. He would call round at Christmas for a drink and to wish us well. We considered him a family friend. Those days are long gone though. |
