I am desperately trying to book a very important appointment for my son, for the last 3 days I have called and in a queue with over 30 callers in front of me. I am registered online and the site tells me the next available appointment is after 23rd December, which is not helpful at all. His employers need a sick nite from him and will make things very difficult for him if we cannot sort this for him. I also work and although I waited for over 30 mins, I didn’t get to the front of the queue, and now at a loss as to what I can do. Thank you | ||||||

Everytime I ring the surgery I feel as though the reception team take great delight in making it as hard a possible to make an appointment. There's no customer service what so ever, the ladies are civil at a stretch but nothing more.
I imagine a great deal of patients work full time like I do and are often calling from work. You wait for ages on hold to speak to someone then you get through to be told you'll have to ring back later for an afternoon appointment there's absolutely no way they will book one before 11. Ok but I'm not allowed my phone on me at work? Tough you're employer will just have to let you ring back. Ok but I'm going to have to tell them why and this is private which is why I'm calling you now? You'll have to call back at 11!
No reason given clearly just a rule they enjoy enforcing.
Given that they work in the medical industry I find it disappointing that they don't show any emphathy what so ever. I'm always reluctant to visit the doctor and feel anxious about it. If I'm calling for an appointment it's because I really do need to see them and being told I'll have to call back just puts me off and I think maybe I'll just leave it. Do your reception team realise they leave people feeling this way? They have no idea the nature of my illness but they've just put me off seeing my doctor for something that could be serious. I wouldn't want that on my conscience. Maybe some training on customer service and the impact of their behaviour could be arranged. There's no point having all of these campaigns encouraging you to go to the doctors and get things diagnosed as early as possible if you can't get past the reception team! Order repeat prescriptions – order and view a list of your repeat prescriptions. Access to your Summary Care Record – view your summary record online, this includes medicines you are taking, allergies you suffer from and any adverse reactions to medicines you have had in the past. How to register for Online Services For security reasons you will have to register for online services in person at the surgery. It takes just a couple of minutes. You can print and complete the Online Services registration form from our website (also available from reception) This can be found under Online Services - Registration Form.pdf Please bring your completed form to reception staff. You will also need to provide two forms of identification: 1) Photographic identification – e.g. passport, bus pass or driving licence 2) Proof of address – a recent utility bill or bank statement. Practice reception staff will verify your identity details and provide you with your login details straight away.
