It is not often that I need to see a doctor but when I do the service is terrible. Waiting about until an receptionist decides to answer the phone. Waiting hours for a doctor to phone back, and not being much help when they do. The attitude is, “just give them some tablets or a sick note and they will be fine.” A certain doctor , who will remain nameless, and has worked at the practice for many years and must have seen many ailments just can’t seem to be bothered. I went and saw him about four years ago. My eye was swollen up could hardly see out of it, I had red rash on my face and head and bad pains in head. He said did not know what it could be and said, oh will give you antibiotics. I said did not want them and just wanted to know what was wrong with me, he said did not know. Turned out to be shingles. Been back again with digestive trouble and once again saying don’t know what it is and still prescribed tablets. No faith what so ever. Just wanted to know what was wrong with me and how to get right again. | ||||||

I am very happy with the GPs/nurses and service that I have received and think this is a very good medical practice. I feel very frustrated that the telephones are not answered on an afternoon and tried ringing to change an appointment constantly for over an hour and still did not get through as the surgery, as it closed at 6.00 pm. I have been to the surgery on many occasions and notice that the receptionists who sit on the front desk only answer phone calls now and again. It would have been quicker to drive 5 minutes down to the surgery to change my appointment than be in a queue position 5 and then to get to queue position 2 to have the call cut off repeatedly. I did this on a 4 further occasions spending in excess of an hour on the phone waiting not to get through to no avail. Heaven forbid if someone needed a doctor urgently or an urgent visit. This is not a problem on a morning and I can always get through on the telephone with a short wait. | ||||||

I've been a patient at this practice for around a year. I am a generally healthy person, albeit with a well-managed chronic condition. I have had a few problems recently, not related to my existing condition.
I reckon I've tried to book an appointment to see a GP about 3 or 4 times over the last year. Every time I call (and this has been spread out over the year) I am told that they are short staffed and can only deal with emergencies. Every time! I understand that the NHS is under a lot of stress, but it seems to be relentless and this centre can't currently even offer the basic service expected of a GP. I still have never met any of the doctors.
One appointment I was booked in with a nurse instead of GP - she was lovely, but was unable to give me the advice and help I needed - I had spoken to the reception when booking that I needed a review of my prescription but this was ignored, the nurse wasn't able to change my prescription.
I have spoken to a GP by phone twice, and while this is better than nothing, it's difficult to diagnose a skin condition blindly! Currently a 5 day wait to even speak to doctor by phone.
I've had a brilliant service from the nursing team for blood tests, flu jab, etc. but there simply is just not enough medical staff. | ||||||
