My husband saw a doctor, who was rude and unkind. Attended for a genital examination and told he would have to have a receptionist to chaperone (note gp did not ask patient but instructed him). My husband said now his wife was here and he’d feel uncomfortable with a receptionist chaperoning but the doctor told him he didn’t have a choice, he either had a chaperone or would not be treated!!! At this point I stepped in and told the gp that the patient has a choice. She broke out into argument with me and my husband politely asked her to stop it as he was lying exposed on the examination couch waiting. GP had no idea what the diagnosis was nor how to treat the problem and looked confused when I suggested what it might be. At this point she asked me what I did and I told her that I was a GP and then asked what antibiotics she should use; I suggested she look it up on Leeds health pathway! Further, I suggested she go away and refer to GMC guidance on good practice consent and chaperones. Shocked and appalled at this faulty towers gp surgery. Could not recommend... take it from someone in the job ... steer well clear & keep your loved ones safe. | ||||||

I was asked to have a blood test for B12 and Folate deficiency. The nurse suggested, without any request from me or my doctor, that I be tested for Cholesterol at the same time. I was then contacted by the practice and told to ring back. I was then told I had a 22% risk of a serious heart attack or stroke. I challenged this and realised the practice was continuing to use incorrect data about early death of a relative from CVD. I contacted a Dr. about this and they said it was too much trouble to correct this data. I was urged by both the Nurse Practitioner to take a Statin. Both of these interviews were on the phone, NOT in person, and I was not told of the risks of taking this drug. I was not told to take a fasting blood-test. I asked for a fasting blood-test, and this revealed much lower cholesterol levels. Despite this, a doctor at Hollybank advised me to take the statin.
The next day I was called by the sister practice (Craven Road) and told my fasting blood test was fine, and no further action was required.
I think this is all pretty incompetent. The practice is obsessed with prescribing statins and takes any opportunity to do this.
This is the third time in a few years me or my family have had misleading or incorrect blood-tests and advice from Hollybank. | ||||||

I have been with this surgery for a few years now. I always feel very nervous going into consultations and it can be hard to find the words to describe how I am feeling or what I am needed/wanting.
The GPs at this practice have never rushed me, never made me feel like I am asking for too much, they are very considerate in saying 'this is what I think, what do you think, do you agree this is a suitable course of action, or what would you like?'.
Special mention to one Dr who's clinical and holistic consultations have literally been a lifesaver for me and a second Dr who, I met for the first time today, was absolutely brilliant. Again, very inclusive as to what 'i' as the patient wanted and how 'i' felt about the treatment suggested instead of just 'this is what you are getting and that's it'. He made me feel very comfortable and his energy and spirit made me feel better before he had even given me a prescription.
The reception staffs are wonderful, their friendly attitudes always make you feel like a VIP when you come to the surgery. Very compassionate and considerate. I have been with another surgery who didn’t seem to understand that people that come to doctors’ surgeries are ill and needing help and sometimes need things explaining a little slower or for someone to be a little gentler with them than usual. Holly Bank/Craven Road always display this attribute, they understand you need care and attention and never make you feel like you are slowing the work day down by needing extra care.
