My special needs son is been supported by Moon care worker supports my to access community resources at week ends. The support worker is skilled, passionate and provides very good services which as a result my son is now leaning some independent living skills. Although my son has no verbal communication, he has established great rapport with the worker. The worker has studied my son well and can tell when he is not well, they read and understand my son's body language. On their weekend outings my son comes home very happy, full of laughter and energy and is always looking forward to seeing the worker for next outing. Without this excellent support from Moon care i feel my son will suffer social exclusion, segregation, discrimination and his independence will not be promoted. The worker takes him to visit places of interest such as Natural History museum or Geoffrey museum where he participates in different activities with other special needs young men from other parts of London. His favorite cup that he still uses is a porcelain that he designed at Geoffrey museum when he visited with Moon care worker. Some of the skills he has learn is that he can now knock on the front door or ring the door bell when he arrives from outing. He is now able to get water or drink for himself because the support worker encourages him to point at things. He is beginning to understand simple instructions such as put this in the paper bin because he does that when they are outside. This service helps my son and the rest of family because it enhances my son's abilities to develop to his full potential and reduce the stresses and strains that his caring has on the whole family especially on myself and my husband as we are in full time employment. It enables him to have new experiences and provides us some break. Again the management of Moon care understands the plight of carers, they are flexible and easy to communicate with. My encounter with Mooncare has given me peace of mind. I do not worry or have anxieties and i intend to continue using Moon care till my son's needs change.
