Visiting this scheme put my faith back in the care service. My mother was looking to move from residential care to an establishment where she could have her own flat but where she could still be supportred by a on site care team. On being shown around, we were encouraged to talk people who already use the service and their comments were glowing. Staff seem to genuinely care, go out of their way to give support and advice. We visited on three seperate occasions twice with booked appointments and once we just popped in,
staff and management welcomed us warmly on each occasion. When visiting there always seemed to be a happy buzz in the air, the scheme is light and airy and it does not have the feel of a care home. The envasis was on support, independence, enabling and empowering (how refreshing). One comment made by staff a staff member that particularly stuck in my head 'we don't want people to come here to think about dying, we want them to come here to live'.
We were offered a flat and moved in and on behalf of my mother I can honestly say,the care lives up to expectations and beyond. |
