Took mum as she was really anxious about ongoing virus and painful leg problem. We were welcomed by a kind friendly lady on reception who made us feel that we were no trouble and looked after us. We didn’t wait long before meeting a nurse . How lovely to be treated like human beings and with compassion and understanding. Thorough observations taken and a test carried out swiftly. Then we met the delightful chap who carried out another thorough check up, listened patiently and was so reassuring and kind. We left feeling very well treated and mum felt so much less anxious and worried. An absolutely positive experience and wonderful service from these three exceptionally warm and dedicated members of staff. Thank you so much. |

I received excellent care in the Urgent Care Department by very kind, caring, cheerful, friendly and professional Nurses and Urgent Care Practitioners. The Receptionists were kind and helpful and the waiting area is bright and pleasant and the wait not long. I am very grateful for the excellent care provided by all concerned. |

Today I visited Selby Hospital for a walk in Blood Test. There was a long queue so everybody sat waiting patiently. Suddenly an intermittent alarm started with lights flashing. Thought it was a fire alarm / evacuation but no, Nurses of all ranks appeared along with two Doctors. Nurses brought a screen and put it across the nearby corridor. Apparently someone had collapsed. Whilst Selby Hospital is not a big unit with specialist A + E services, I have to say that the immediate response by Receptionists, Nurses and Doctors to someone collapsing and needing unexpected urgent medical assistance was so impressive. Well done to all staff at Selby War Memorial Hospital for their care today 13.4.2023! |
