I wish to record a note of thanks and appreciation to the Family and Volunteer Support Service of Rampton Hospital. I feel this service has hugely improved in the last 10 years that I have used it. It has better supported carers in their quest for transparency and accountability in a way which brings along the staff with carers, not as carers pitted against the staff. My relative has now moved on, but in that time I have witnessed the format of Carer Events open up with surgeries, questions from carers, and a striving for professionalism by staff who are now beginning to recognise carers as a voice. I hope the service continues to be on the side of carers as a vision. Carers can bring an all encompassing view of what mental health recovery entails for their loved ones. The improvements have been hard-won through hard work and soul-searching by the service and carers. I hope the hospital leadership will continue to give carers a voice. I wish all the staff at Rampton Hospital well and hope they continue to find meaning and improvements in what they do. A Grateful Carer.
