if you can, avoid at all costs. An awful place if you are poorly and vulnerable. Lack of care, safety and understanding. Dangerous place in all aspects including under trained staff, under-managed and under funded. You get abused here by the staff, doctors and in general its a toxic environment

I was admitted to Chebsey ward following a suicide attempt. I was treated terribly by most of the staff there. My concern is the attitude of staff to those who attempt suicide. It's as if staff see suicide issues as an affront towards them. I have severe PTSD as a result of past abuse in my youth and suffer terrible flashbacks and panic attacks. Whilst sectioned I was suffering badly yet staff treated me as though I had committed a criminal offence, their disapproval was obvious. The consultant psychiatrist was even worse, he told me suicide is a sin, and anger is an inappropriate emotion for a female to experience. I deserve an explanation for why it was that during a considerable crisis, when I had been severely triggered, and was so distraught I tried to kill myself, I was treated as though I'd broken the law. I've gone over and over this, and I still cannot make sense of it all. Just what is it about an abused, traumatised individual declaring they can take no more that the staff here find so unacceptable?!?!

I was referred to this service over two years ago due to my bpd diagnoses and have had absolutely no support from this place. I’ve left feel deflated and unwanted. I was often gaslighted and made to feel like my problems aren’t that bad. I was discharged without warning through a letter even after a recent call for help to crisis who never contacted me back. These people do not care about you and have been completely disensitised and don’t actually care. I am completely and utterly disappointed in this service.
