Now wouldn't you think that some of the more essential attributes and requirements to be a receptionist in a mental health hospital would be kindness and empathy. You are first point of call for vulnerable people calling in and face to face patients. Then, how on earth did the receptionists in the main reception at Dorothy Patterson get past the first interview, my daughter had to drop in today to collect a prescription that had been arranged, she was met with rudeness, and spoken to in a unacceptable manner, luckily her doctor came out and he was lovely, kind, chatty and immediately put her at ease. I have previously raised concerns about the reception staff, I had a visit from a representative of the hospital who assured me more training would be given to this role, sadly 3 years on I can confirm either the training didn't take place or some staff members are in urgent need of a refresher course. To confirm the reception staff in the outpatients are much better |
