This is a great practice but on returning today, as I was asked to do, I feel very angry and upset. I recently had hand surgery and I have stitches in my palm and small finger. I was told to change the dressing after two days, which I did. On doing this I was concerned as my finger was extremely swollen, red and hot and there was pus and weeping from my stitches. As this was late afternoon I attended the centre. The nurse I saw was so helpful and caring. She said she would not give me antibiotics but to return in three days to check again to see if I needed antibiotics. I returned three days later and saw a different nurse who was also caring and helpful. Again, the advice was she thought my hand was healing well but to return again in three days to check. I was happy with this advice as it put my mind at rest. Both nurses were polite, friendly and introduced themselves, and were caring and gentle. Both gently cleaned around the stitches and put fresh bandages on my hand. Unfortunately the nurse I saw today was unfriendly and didn’t introduce herself. She straightaway said why hadn’t I gone to my own doctor’s practice and who were my doctors. She made me feel extremely uncomfortable as if I as wasting her time. I had a traumatic time after surgery, which is too long to go into here. I am in my mid-70s and I was worried about an infection. Urgent Care do a fantastic job but I felt she has let the centre down as my experience so far has been one of a caring and friendly staff. I know how hard the nursing staff work as I as was in hospital for over a week a couple of years ago. They do work incredibly hard. Reading some of the previous reviews, this complaint seems trivial but it has upset me and I feel I had to say something. |

I have an existing medical condition but have been unable to see my usual medical team as the last two 6 monthly checkups have been cancelled. I decided to seek advice from Herne Bay UTC and am so glad I did. From start to finish my treatment was exemplary. I was reassured and treated all within the space of an hour. My grateful thanks to the very kind Receptionist, and the two medical staff, you are all stars |

Our friend was on the ward transferred for rehab she got no rehab became bedbound had a blocked catheter got no fluids or food and developed pressure sores. She was transferred to a care home but died shortly after this. When she went into herne bay hospital she was alert and orientated sitting in a chair eating and drinking and walking.she was like this in Canterbury just before transfer. I raised concerns with ward manager about the state if our friend and spent days visiting trying to help her food and fluids. People are transferred out of hospitals to these places where they do not get the care. Our relative had day procedure here years ago was feeling faint and could not stand up post procedure they tried to send her home like this. Thank god her dad was with me that day as he also raised concerns about the care she was receiving. She then got transferred to Canterbury via ambulance. This showed serious concerns that nursing staff were sending patients home very unsafe and not fit for discharge. Would not go to this hospital due to serious saftey concerns. There are much better places to get treatment. |
