I was more than disappointed with the dealings with my child . Whilst in there ? was forced to watch a horror ( which ? hears voices and has serious paranoia ) we don’t let ? watch horrors . The staff told me I could ring up when ever and one time they thought I was on hold and I heard them bad mouthing me! I could never get in touch and they were never helpful . They sent ? home completely free of medication and ? slit her wrists and went on a huge meltdown and in a very bad way . Lots more reasons why this hospital does not have my vote! It’s useless ! I feel let down and my ? does and all professionals! I had massive high hopes on visiting and it just tore us apart . All my child needed was help ! If I had the energy and fight in me than I would have put official complaint in Original Comment Report... My child attended for an initial assessment after previously being a patient and leaving due to differences of opinion regarding treatment. My child was told that if they were unwilling to have CBT therapy this service would not offer any alternative. CBT did not work the first time, it was done badly, pushed to far, to fast and left them in a worse place which is why we left the service in the first place. I would have thought that a child and adolescent based therapy service would be more willing to listen to the child themselves and be led by what the child wants and their therapy needs. I have never met a child yet who "fits" into a nice neat box so they can be "therapied" a certain way. In this day and age with such a high statistic of teenage suicides maybe this service would be better served to actually listen to the young person and their family and fit the treatment to the young person not make the young person fit a regime of treatment that may not be right for them. This service ruled out any intervention for my child because they said no to one, so they wouldn't offer any of the many other available treatment options. It is almost a 'you play by my rules or you don't play' ethos and in all fairness that works for some but in this case it showed my child that their rules on treatment outweigh the personalisation of treatment for the individual. My child is an individual and deserves to be treated as such! They have now been told by our G.P to "wait it out" as they are a few months away from 18 at which point they miraculously become an adult and another service can pick them up. This is wrong on so many levels not least of which is 18 is months away and they need help now! Original Comment Report... This is disappointing for the team as they aim to provide high quality care. At the age of 14 I was put in the Newberry Centre for mental health issues and the support I received was amazing. The staff showed respect towards you no matter what insults you threw to them. Being treat as a human made me feel like some good would come in life. I have made many great friends and my life is now back in progress thanks to the Newberry Centre. I hope any patient who gets admitted feels the same I do and my heart and respect goes out to those who are suffering with Mental Health. It took me a while to get used to the anxiety of being somewhere new but eventually I got used to it. At the lowest point of my life I never saw a light at the end of the tunnel but the staff always encouraged that one day I would see it. The facilities are amazing and playing pool made me forget my worried and it stopped my mind from wandering off into a bad place. With the help from the psychologists I eventually started to gain some self confidence back and look one step forward. Thank you to everyone and that you deserve every compliment given. I am now in a better place and have started exams meaning college is getting closer every day. I am still pursuing my goal to be a Mental Health nurse and being able to connect to those with a similar illness to me. My PTSD is under control and I am slowly putting my life back together. I am not as whole as I would like to be but to those who judge me on my past. I don't live there any more I live in the present. With the help of my friends I can now see the light at the end of the tunnel. Original Comment Report...
