Hatt House

My mother has been a resident at Hatt House for 2 years and has been very well looked after by exceptionally caring and attentive staff. The communal facilities may not be the most salubrious, but residents have lovely bedrooms, beautiful gardens and plenty of space to move within the dining room, sitting room, smaller meeting room and open air courtyards. As visitors, we are always offered tea, coffee and biscuits, at any time of day and it is clear that the residents are as content as they could possibly be, all suffering varying degrees of dementia, an extremely difficult condition to manage at the best of times. We know from looking after our mother through the early stages, that dementia nursing is a 24/7 role. We have not noticed an exceptional turn over of staff, as many have been there the full 2 years that we have visited. I would recommend Hatt House as being a reasonable nursing home, specifically catering for this sadly debilitating conditon.

My mum was in this home and I haven't got a good word to say about them. They rate themselves on the care they provide, and dedication to their patients. In my opinion, they are not experienced to look after dementia patients. Their staff turnover appears to be high, they appear to lack empathy towards their patients, failure to offer good care and completely unwilling to listen to the concerns of patients relatives. Everything they said they do for the elderly in their care never happened! Avoid, avoid, avoid! My mum was in their care and had to be hospitalised, and sadly passed away shortly after. They didn't even phone to send their condolences..
