They are both thoroughly professional practitioners, who give great attention to detail and customer requirements. They never do the "hard sell" for other products and treatments you might experience elsewhere. The examination rooms are comfortable, and so spacious that the 6 metre distance can be achieved without multiple reflections. Everyone, including the optical assistants, is friendly and honest, and seem to work well with young children. They have supplied me specifications which larger opticians have claimed are inordinately expensive or no longer possible. Orders and repairs are done quickly; many prices are below those quoted by the optical chains, and cheques are still accepted. |

Returned to Gillies after a several year absence due to employer using a different firm. Very welcoming and friendly. NHS eye test was performed, plus a retinal scan that I paid for. The scan was repeated the following day (no extra cost) which confirmed that I needed to be seen at the RVI. No attempt was made to sell me any glasses, because the optician felt that we should wait until after I had seen a consultant. After being seen at the RVI Gillies re-tested my eyes again (at no cost) and helped me to choose new frames. There was no attempt to pressure me into buying two pairs, fancy coatings etc. They said the new glasses would be ready in a few days, but were ready the very next day! Excellent! I am very pleased that I returned to them. |
