I have used Nixon & Shaw for many years (apart from a brief stint when I was living in London) and they are second to none, in terms of the quality of their staff. What really made them stand out was, upon mentioning to their receptionist that my vision had been a little blurry for the past few days, she reported it straight to the optician and asked me to come back a little later that day. The optician stayed behind after hours on a Saturday to check my eye and discovered that I had a detached retina - a serious medical emergency. The optician arranged for me to have urgent surgery first thing the following morning at the Bristol Eye Hospital. That receptionist and that optician ultimately saved the sight in one of my eyes, for which I will always be incredibly grateful. This is the sort of service you don’t get in certain high-street ‘chain’ opticians. I use the opticians for my regular eye tests, contact lenses and contact lens check-ups, and they are always fantastic.
